Food Pantries

Nobody going to bed hungry.

MFC operates three food pantries in Grand County, plus a “good neighbor” pantry in Jackson County (Walden). If you need food, simply walk in, complete an intake form, and we’ll give you a box. There are no income checks or other qualifications required- we provide food to all who need it.

School Totes

In 2011, MFC was contacted by a teacher at Kremmling Elementary School with a heartbreaking story. That morning, she had noticed one of her students unable to focus and starting continuously at the teacher’s shirt. When asked about it, the student explained that the yellow on the teacher’s shirt reminded him of a banana, and he was so hungry that he couldn’t think about anything else.

Students in Grand County go to school Monday-Thursday, and while the 3-day weekend offers many benefits to families, it can also be difficult for those children facing food insecurity at home, who may not have much to eat between one school meal and the next. Thus, the School Totes program was born.

Every Thursday, over 300 grocery bags (“totes”) packed with nutritious snacks are delivered to schools throughout Grand County. Students sign up as needed, and can take home a snack tote every weekend.

This program is only made possible by community partnerships: snacks are donated through local food drives or purchased from Food Bank of the Rockies, middle school students pack the totes, and bus drivers and volunteers deliver the totes to each school.

If you would like to sign your child up for Totes, please contact their school office. If you would like to support this program, please click here to donate.
