Utility Assistance

Keeping the lights on, and the house warm.

Mountain Family Center can help pay utility bills that are past due, or that cannot be paid for the upcoming month. This includes gas, electric, propane or even wood if that is your main source of heat. Please call 970-557-3186 to schedule an appointment. Funding is limited and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, so not all applications are guaranteed approval. Payments are made directly to the utility company, and assistance is available only once per year per household.

The State of Colorado also offers utility assistance through its LEAP program. We encourage those needing help with heating bills to apply for LEAP, in addition to applying for MFC’s assistance. MFC can help with the LEAP application process. Call 970-557-3186 to schedule an appointment.

Housing Assistance

Mountain Family Center can help you stay in your home.
If you are behind on your rent or mortgage, or are afraid you won’t be able to make an upcoming payment, we may be able to help. Call 970-557-3186 to schedule an appointment. The purpose of this program is to help keep current residents in their homes, therefore, you must have lived in Grand County for at least 6 months and no payments can be made for security deposits or first month’s rent. Payments are made directly to landlord or mortgage company, and assistance is only available once per household.
